Growth of Cu2O Nanocubes from Seeds in Microwells
نویسندگان
چکیده
This project focused on the growth of Cu2O nanocubes in microwells from nanoparticle “seeds.” The seeds were first formed by the reduction of copper sulfate with ascorbic acid in the presence of the surfactant poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG). Upon reaction within the microwell, the seed solution formed a larger single crystal. By varying the amount of precursor seed particles available in the reaction, nanocubes of different sizes were formed. The surfactant was removed from the surface of the nanocubes using ethanol. The nanocubes were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Structure-Dependent Electrocatalytic Properties of Cu2O Nanocrystals for Oxygen Reduction Reaction
Cu2O nanocrystals with different morphologies are synthesized via a reductive solution route by controlling the reaction time and using different capping agents. Introducing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) leads to nearly monodispersed Cu2O nanocubes with 40 nm size and dominant {100} crystal planes. With prolonged reaction time, the nanocubes are truncated and transformed into sphere-like nanocrys...

Cuprous oxide (Cu2O) nanocubes were synthesized by reducing Cu(OH)2 in the presence of sodium citrate at room temperature. The samples were characterized in detail by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, and N2 absorption (BET specific surface area). The equations for acquiring ...

In most studies describing the preparation of Cu2O crystals of various morphologies, the particle sizes are normally hundreds of nanometers to micrometers due to rapid particle growth, so they are not exactly nanocrystals. Here we report surfactant-free formation of sub-100 nm Cu2O nanocrystals with systematic shape evolution from cubic to octahedral structures by preparing an aqueous mixture o...
متن کاملSelf-supported Pt nanoclusters via galvanic replacement from Cu2O nanocubes as efficient electrocatalysts.
A novel synthesis method for self-supported Pt nanoclusters (Pt NCs) comprised of interconnected 2-3 nm Pt nanoparticles was developed by employing the galvanic replacement process between Cu2O nanocubes and PtCl4(2-) ions. This discovered synthesis procedure eliminates the use of any polymer capping agents and enables a catalytically clean Pt surface. It is determined that the presence of H(+)...
متن کاملAu@Ag core-shell nanocubes with finely tuned and well-controlled sizes, shell thicknesses, and optical properties.
This paper describes a facile method for generating Au@Ag core-shell nanocubes with edge lengths controllable in the range of 13.4-50 nm. The synthesis involved the use of single-crystal, spherical Au nanocrystals of 11 nm in size as the seeds in an aqueous system, with ascorbic acid serving as the reductant and cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) as the capping agent. The thickness of the A...
